now it struck me.we jumped into a cinematic, which we skipped. my ectos were on the ground, he was running to get them. luckily i noticed what was going on by now, and lured as many mobs as possible to the ghostly hero. fortunatelly, The ghostly died, thus we failed mission. The ectos were still on the ground, and were now wasted. when we got back to outpost i was expecting them to come up under 'unclaimed items' but they didnt for some reason. So, now i must build up my ecto collection from scratch.

For some strange reason i'm at least happy that HE didnt get them. he doesnt deserve them, being a scammer, and i would've felt worse knowing he had his slimy hands on em.
but at the end of the day it was my fault. i fell for this scam, i didnt take screenshots either. oh well, looks like fow armour will have to wait.

I seen this scam before too. It's funny how the thought of getting rich will drive peoples to do crazy things.

your smart enough to make 70 ectos but fall for this.. just buy more like you did those- that scammer deserved those ectos it's all off ebay- who would fall for that except a new player =]

If a chinese farmer can farm ecto so can a new player, doesnt take a lot of thought, just because he has cash doesnt mean hes an ebay noob.

Ive seen scammers try to pull similar things, saying theres a magic tree that doubles ecto when you drop them near it.
You cant really blame the scammer on this one, purely down to stupidity on the victims behalf.

1: my ectos are NOT off ebay. i have spent 4 months making that collection. if u must know i farm uw and minos with my 55hp monk.

2. i know i was very stupid falling for it, just read the title of the thread!

It was your mistake, that has been said..but your second mistake was posting this thread. People will call you stupid, etc etc..what are you expecting?

"Gee that sucks here you can have some of my ecto" ?

The Eula is not the Ten commandments, so I really don't care how people get their ecto even if it isn't allowed in the EULA, but posting it=bad idea.

The good thing though, is this won't happen to you again. Everyone will eventually learn something in life the hard way, some sooner than others.

Why did you post this then, when you knew all that would happen is people pointing out you aren't very smart, and furthermore were breaking the rules of the game anyway...and admitting it.

Probably time to lock this before it gets too downhill. It sucked you lost your ectos, but at the same time you were apparently willing to take advantage of an exploit.

Even though such an exploit didn't exist, fact is you were willing to go and do it. Gaile's response in my "does Anet actually do anything about scammers?" had some interesting insights into their views on scamming between players, but the Rules of Conduct make it perfectly clear exploiting etc. is not something acceptable practice.

Put it down to lesson learned, I doubt you'll get any sympathy from Anet either - which this time I'd support their decision.

wait, 70 ectos times the current market value (i think 7k). Wow, he lost about 490k. One question, couldn't out run that person to pick up your ectos?

Overall, I thought it was good. And of the PUGs that didn't do very well, I could tell the vast majority of it was simply due to being unfamiliar with it all. They definately should leave this open to the public. Perhaps activate it for people who have beat all the missions, so there wouldn't be thoes lvl 10's begging to join.

My only complaint was there double rare drop rate was definately not working for me. I was on three runs that all got to the Exhaustion area or better and the only golds I came out with dropped from chests.

Hmmm...how many really would not exploit if they get a chance? It is easy to say "No" in here.

I still remember the first trader reset and even some posters in here abused it.

Maybe it was because so many did the same, it wouldn't matter?

Most people here have played GW (and online games in general) for such a long time that they would never fall for a scam this obvious.

As said, I don't know how you can farm 70 ectos and not know how to avoid scams.
